2005 USPA Gold Cup Tickets Hot items among locals
Tickets for the USPA Gold Cup Sunday games have gone on sale with three possible choices for spectators. Aiken residents many of whom have a strong link with the polo community and the sport’s history in the town have shown a great interest in the tournament and are taking advantage or early ticket sales.
The field will be lined with polo cabanas - 15 x 15’ tents with 20 tickets included and four car passes they will be the only spectator cars allowed on the field. Those looking to reserve cabanas are advised to book early.
The Polo Pavilion is a further option for attending the Sunday games without the commitment of a private party. Pavilion ticketholders will have an elegant central fieldside location with food and beverages included.
Four Sunday feature games will be the highlighted afternoons for spectators including Sunday September 11, which will see the finals of the warm up tournament for the Aiken Community Polo Trophy.
Following that opening weekend of action the next three Sundays will showcase the USPA Gold Cup itself with the finals on October 2. At least six teams are expected and organizers are confident that the quality of the players will meet audience enthusiasm.
In addition to the Polo Pavilion and private Polo Cabanas the Sunday field will sport a general admission area and a Vendors’ Village. Each of the four Sundays benefits different local charities including the Aiken County Pony Club run by District Commissioner Holly Biddle.
“The USPA Gold Cup is a great thing for Aiken and the polo community here,” she said. “And the Pony Club is delighted to be one of the half dozen charities that will also benefit from the event. It is bringing the community together and promoting polo at the same time.”
On Friday 23rd there will be a Polo Ball ‘Aiken Strikes Gold’ in aid of the SPCA. Tickets are also available for purchase at this time.
