Weekend Polo Report

Deep down in Houston, TX was Mighty Mouse Matt Gonzalez losing to Mike Azzaro, but it did not happen easy. As it was in the end of the 8th chukkar when Mr. Gracida, Julio that is, finished off
Matt and Spencer Farms to be the victors of the first 16 goal of three.

In Santa Barbara it was a wild weekend as the USPA Players Cup was finished for 2002 and it was the ac deluxe and the Palimino (Jason Crowder) of El Toro giving the
Lawman (Matt Ladin) and the Surfer (Diego Cossio) a definite drubbing in the semis on Sat. by 14 to 6. El Toro then spanked the plastic Beverly Hills Institute, giving them a reason for
plastic surgery in the finals at 13 to 7 . Big Nick and Miguelito Torres rocked the ends of Beverly Hills and sent them back to Rodeo Drive.

In this tournament I think M.V.P. belongs to 13 year old Miguelito Torres, as he was the man in all the games I've seen. The 12 goal season started with a bang and I mean a bang. Either some teams are not 12 goals or some are not ready. There are only 6 teams but the spreads were like mayonnaise. El Encanto took a licking 17 to 7 as 76 year old Glen Holden closed the door on them. In the other mismatch of theday the Maroon Harpoon or the Governor, Pat Nesbitt, just missed with 40 seconds to go to score the 20th goal for Windsor Capital as they dropped a major bomb on MC Polo 19 to 7.

They all go back to the war zone on Wednesday and try
to revive as the 2 down teams step up to the plate and one of them is
even more offensive minded than Windsor or Gechache. So come see the show. The weather was something special for Mother's Day in Santa Barbara.

See ya. -- Steve Crowder

It's Polo Time

May 9, '02: From coast to coast flowers are blooming and hopefully wallets are bulging because its polo time and it is time for fun in the sun. It is happening from Meadow Brook, New York to good old Santa Barbara ,ca. It is happening, 8 goal, in New York, 16 goal in Houston, 20 goal in Aiken and 6 goal in CA. The 12 goal starts this week in Santa Barbara.

Winter is dead and gone for 2002 except I heard it snowed 18 inches in Calgary and things were white in Spokane, but the weather is great in most places.

In Houston, it's looks like Matt Gonzalez could be in finals. In Santa Barbara the Lawman (Matt Ladin) and the Surfer (Diego Cossio) have been a little tough on junior polo as the Palomino (Jason Crowder) and Artie Cameron are having plenty of trouble riding the waves to victory lane. It is their fourth meeting on Saturday, and it's the semi finals. As Ladin and Cossio try for 3 victories in a row and the double C's (Cameron and Crowder) look to stop it. El Toro is getting tired of the surf law (Nicoma). Nick Stonningham wants an + this Sat. night for dinner.

The 12 goal looks good, but not great. As 6 teams show up for the first of 4. We will see if we get 3 more for June.

No matter where you go, we need a few real women and men to play polo today. So bring your horses and do not let the summer slip away. Call us. We will find you a place to go. Never feel alone. Like Will Rogers said "polo is a passport to anywhere.'

See Ya.
