Dec. 28, '04: Bad News Driving -It was very bad news to the South as we were just talking about traveling. That's was just the way it was as yesterday in Florida. Alan Martinez and horses were traveling to a practice game and while passing through an intersection a lady ran a red light causing a bad wreck which involved Alan's entire string. The truck and trailer fliped over killing 1 horse and injuring 7 others. Life is short enough so pay attention as they say safety pays. We feel relieved that Alan and his grooms were spared injury, but feel the terrible loss of losing horses who were just along for the ride. They are the key to any polo player. May they live well in horse heaven and enjoy that safety is now a thing of the past. Please remember its not your past, so slow down pass on the left drive on the right. The life you save maybe your own.

See ya

Dec. 26, '04: Travel Time - Yes it's time to hit the road as you have to travel to get to polo nearly anywhere you live if it is not Indio, Ca. ,West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Sarasota or Ocala ,Fl. Your driving or hauling horses and I hope you are a polite driver pass on the left and drive to the right.

It's not hard just be nice and save the roads from taking up more land by simply making room for everyone on the road. Well if your hauling horses remember they move so take your time you will need it to stop and if the horses were clipped remember they have no coats so give them one. It is a good time to clip your horses if you have blankets. The equinox has passed so they will not grow more winter hair unless they get too cold. Treat them like a friend you may need them to escape the runaway next door on the field who was not treated so well. Wherever you are and your headed to polo its got to be warmer when you get there. They need grass to play polo and it does not grow in the snow. So have a safe trip and make it safer by driving on the right and passing on the left. If your flying just have a nice day and bring your lunch they do not feed you much in the air and you will be late.

Well the Polo world explodes back in action in 2005 and it will be a Happy New Year as they will be underway with the first 22 in Fl. Five days later it goes into action in Indio, CA and Sarasota, FL from 14 to 2 goal . Wherever you are going its time to have a good time! So see you at polo.

See ya

You will be excited to know you can be on the field playing with two and against two 10-Goal players for one whole week and still have a chance to win money. Check it out! If that's not for you how about a 10-day trip to Australia and no 10-goal players allowed. Or go play snow Polo in Moscow. Yes, that's in Russia on Feb. 25 - 27, '05. So saddle up and see the World. Enjoy life and remember POLO is a passport to nice people around the globe

Have a very Merry Christmas. - Steve Crowder.

Dec. 21, 04: Bang Went The Gun! - It was the end of the season and it ended with a couple of finals of the USPA Player’s Cup. In Bracket B it was Sir Sean and his gang pulverizing Shalimar as they got hot on a warm and beautiful Sunday afternoon. It did not seem too hot to Shalimar for the afternoon. In Bracket A it was a new young gun by the name of Remy Mueller taking his first USPA tournament and putting his name in the 2005 bluebook as the 12- year old who was point man for Roxy Keyfauver and big Nick.  They hit him the plastic as Dad, Noel, shut the backdoor. They out slugged Josey (Joseph Stuart) and Carnation Farms to put Los Caballos name on the 2005 Player’s Cup as champions. In the 8-goal it was a little New York and a little California. In the end it was too much for Stone Canyon as Randy Russell and the Photo man, Steve Wayda were just a little short as Michael Rothbard rode in from NY to stop the Ca. combo with a lot of help from top gun Miguel Torres, JR and Pop as they teamed up with young gun Uretz and took the Holiday Cup home.  It was a great day, a bit short but, not as short as tomorrow will be. The first day of Winter and also the shortest day of the year are here. Just think about it.  Everyday gets a little longer from now on, so live fast and have a beautiful XMAS.

See ya at the KEYE'S CLASSIC

Dec. 19th, ’04: The Final Bell - It’s the final USPA Tournament of the year on the West Coast oe maybe anywhere and it started yesterday. It is the 2004 Player's Cup with 6 teams in the draw. In bracket A it was Josey (Joseph Stuart) back from Argentina, doing what they did not let him do in the Pampas . . . turning the ball, but he did it well. Negro Gularte and the Embassy Suites were never turned as BM went blowing by with the plastic and today they the Los Caballos Squad with 12 year old Remy Muller blowing down the field calling for the big one from Dad or Nick as he is ready to rock right now, so hit it. On the other side it was Sir Sean and Corleone getting up on the + side as they edged by Pami Sue's (Kim Larson) squad in a narrow 1 goal win. She is back in action so come and see Pami Sue today as she tries to get a + by her team against two new chargers Kassem Shafi and Barnaby Levin. Get down on the grass and head for the + sign.

In the Holiday Cup there are 4 teams in the 8-goal and looking like a great start. A new top gun looks to try his hand at the 8-goal Dirk Wray comes out of the jet way to make a run on the 4 footed jets to lead Princeps against Stone Canyon. The Uretz crew and World Gym tangle with G&L later in the day. Should be lots of action on a very short day, so come and see them run.

See ya.

Dec. 17th, ’04: Polo Horses Stolen In Florida - Two young polo horses were stolen in West Palm Beach a couple of days ago and they even stole Robert Lynn Chow’s truck and trailer to drive them off. So if you get a X-Mas special on a couple of horses look closely. If its a bay or a chestnut they maybe borrowed property both are tattoed thoroughbreds. The trailer is an Elite aluminum and it’s not at home. Click here for more info: More information can be accessed at http://netposse.com/stolenmissing/stolenmissingimg/stolenbrandyFL12-16-04.htm

Dec. 17th, '04: Polo Looses A Gentleman - With true regret I report the loss of one of the finest gentelman in polo and in the world in general. Gonzalo Tanoria died on Thursday while having a back operation in Argentina. He was the current President of the Argentine Polo Association and a former 10-goal player who always had class whether on a horse, at the barn or at the party or dinner.

I have met two people since I been alive who were just so classy and such gentelman I just was amazed at their existence. One was from Chili, a man named Manuel Rojas. The other was Gonzalo Tanoria. They were just different than anyone I have ever met. So cool, yet classy as well as nice and everthing you would want your son to be or yourself. Gonzalo was a 10-goal player when I first met him in Florida. Our sympathy goes out to his family in this sad time. Be strong as you know he would have. Adios SIR GONZALO TANORIA

Dec. 12, '04 - Sometimes You've Just Have To Be Lucky - That's the way it is. When you work out in the gym all day sometimes it takes more than muscle and that happened this week. White Oak lost 2 games last week and there were only 3 games to get to the finals. Just get ready for this week and that's just what Laith and his White Oak squad did. They won on Sat. and let the undefeated teams on the other side fight it out with the others. They knew only one could be there on Sunday and that's the way it was. Sir Sean and company rolled thru all comers, but so did Mehrdad and company. They just happened to score a couple more goals than Sir Sean so they made it to the finals to meet White Oak, who they beat last weekend. Laith had been saving energy and the finals was just not last week. As White Oak jumped all over the unbeaten Rancho Esperanza group and took Big Mike Uretz's fantastic World Gym Globe home. In the 2-goal finals it was the Photo Man Steve Wayda getting off the injured list and storming back from a summer on the sidelines and leading his squad to the title along with Lochesh of San Diego. So its off to the Player's Cup next week. Sir Sean plans to have an invitational 8-goal Christmas Classic before the new year. It should be a wild one. We would like to thank Mike and the rest of the Uretz family for a very fun and exciting 2 weeks of good polo. Someday he is going to play for his own cup but not until next year.

See ya at the Players Cup

On a side note, the dreams did not come true in Argentina as Milo did play and win so Marcos Dipola did not get to play. Juan Martin Nero did play, but did not win but they were so close to finishing that dream.

Dec 10th, '04: Time to Muscle Up - The WORLD GYM is moving into it's final weekend and things are looking tough. Sir Sean Keyes is sitting pretty at the moment with a 2 & 0 mark. Los Caballos and the Rockin' Doc and REMY & Roxie Keyfauver are setting up big Nick White and putting out some big numbers as they are also 2 & 0. In last weeks action they were sort of out of sight as the Debii Dollar and the Ladies were in charge, but they are gone and its back to Mike Uretz's ht man behind this wonderful Christmas time family affair and they will be looking to giving more than receiving this weekend. That is giving someone a whipping and head to the finals for that fine World Gym trophy. It's a dandy. There will be a lot of action Saturday, so be there. It could all come down to net goals and that makes it so important to make them gimme's.

Line up your team for the final USPA tournament of the 2004, the USPA Players Cup. It starts next weekend. See ya.

Dec. 9th, '04: There is Magic In The Air - Polo is really a dream life and it cannot be more true than it is in the Polo Capital of Argentina. A place where there are more polo players than anyhere else in the World. Maybe as many as all the rest of the World, but no matter what, two men there are fulfilling a dream. No one could believe other than dream it.

Juan martin Nero, who is young gun, played for Italy in the 2001 World Cup in Australia. He has had a heck of a season in Florida with the Merlos. Nero won all his games and won the Gold Cup in England. He is sitting there watching the big boys in Buenos Aires and gets called to take H. Heguys place with Chapa 1. They end up winning one of the early Opens. Then Nero goes back on the sidelines and gets another shot in the Big one at Palermo when M.Heguy gets hurt. M. Heguy is the big stick on the team. No problem. Nero takes his place and bang they are in the finals. The only thing is he really is only 7 goals, but its only 21 days to the end of the year and he will be a big mover in '05. On the other side you have Chapa 2 who is also headed to the semis and they loose their playmaker Milo A. in the first chukker. They need a substitute player and yes that's Cambiaso on the other team. A quick look around and they find 8-goaler Marcos Dipaola. I sure think its history, but another dream comes to life as young Marcos straps on his spurs and scores 6 goals against the best player in the World. Now thats called fulfilling your dreams. Both of these player might just be there for the 111 Argentine Open at Palermo. I wish no bad luck on the regulars, but I do hope they both get to play this Saturday afternoon. Now that's living the POLO DREAM. See ya

Dec. 5th, '04: Take It To The Bank- It was a rain,  horrible day in the desert , but the Ladies are tough.  They played like real  troopers.  None were from South  America,   but they did it anywa . They had a big party at the Lovely settings of Julie Block’s home on Sat. night.  Maybe they prepared there for a cold winters  day.

Sunday started out cold, but got colder and then got wetter.  It stayed just awful.

Debi Dollar Connat was as tough as they get and just as pretty as could be. These girls showed they were her kind of girls.  They fought frozen horses, sleet and slick fields and just kept on ticking.  The first game was the warmest and driest .  It was Eldorado losing the consolation match to G & L ranch.  Then it was time for the bracket  B Consolation  finals.   It was a round robin.  The weather was a little cooler and a little wetter, but it was the Old & Bold standing iout and boldly taking the silver home. At the same time it was the finals of the Bracket B and it was Zero Gravity proving they were the center of gravity and Mountain View was just a ways off center as they got pounded early and often.  Zero G. walked off with the silver from Bracket  B to become the Debii $$ Champs of 2004.

Now its raining and very cold The field is too slick,  so they move the finals game and  not the day.  The show goes on and it was a guess what ? A cold weather Canadian who came out anything but cold. Dayelle  Fargy came out with smoke and simply just led Larsen Carts and Pami Sue’s girls down the road to victory in the cold winter weather.  It was like “heck its not cold.  Come to Canada you wimps. Lets roll and roll.”  And she did as they took it on themselves to heat up Indio and California Polo. Except for a couple of late goals by Shauna Wright and Cybele Jordan,  it might have been a wipeout. Needless to say it’s Kim Larsen’s squad who will wear the title of Debi $$ high-goal  Champs of 2004.

AND THE WINNERS ARE:
