Feb. 28th, 04: Polo The Old Fashioned Way - We work for it and work we did today as there was a game a minute all day long. It started with Pee Wee polo and if you think you can handle that, just watch it first to make sure their rocking.
It started early and it was Melody Ranch without Bob Bradley and Gehache with 1/2 Glen Holden. They won the Singers that is from Melody Ranch and Carnation Farms found Josey (Joseph Stuart) on a roll. He even won as Mom had to tell him to take that woman. He whined, its Caroline, but he did it. Guess what? They won. Just shows you to do what your Mother says. The Doctor needs his Nurse so bad as he failed for the first time to save Bens Life even though Benjamin played well. They still need the Nurse to complete the operation and it turned out the T - Boys TJ Barrack and the Torres were too much for the Doctor today without an aide. DQ surprised Andy Maze and Dandy Dan today as Ted fell off the ledge for a chukker and opened the door to let young gun Manny Questel take the flag often. It was up and the rule 18 says the most goals wins. KSL fell as they have not before. Manny got to the Goti and really had his Goat too often. They are off too the Bronze round and Nicolai is smiling. It is not all because of that sexy devil next to him.
It was the Photo man and the Keyman following the Fast_etta Express to drop a bomb on the Falcons who lost their wings as they fell to the Wineos from Summerland. They lost their Golden Falcon edge.
Come on Sunday and you will see. You do not have to be big to be a giant in this sport. Amin and Geoff Palmer are two of the shorter people in polo and you better be ready as they are two of the toughest little fellas you will ever meet. They play polo the old fashion way man and then ball. If you have not played them you might think they are 6'3 and on a small horse, but you will be history because their g o n e .
See ya.
Feb. 28th , 04: Baby Its Cold Outside - Friday it was a very cold day from West Palm Beach (PB) to Indio, CA. I was talking to a man in PB and he said it was so cold at the semi-finals there that only players and grooms were outside. Well it was not much better here as the cold North wind blew, but the polo was not cold. It was in fact red hot as most games ended in 1 goal differences. It was Movie man Brad Schlei taking off from the Oscar works in Hollywood long enough to score some goals down this way. They need him to finish off Duende who led the game most of the day, but not when it counted at the end. In another very tough game it was Mr. Amin showing why he is one very tough hombre as the Golden Falcons were able to take a last minute miss by Grants Farm and take it 300 yards as the bell rang and give themselves a real chance for the finals. The 2 teams who have a chance to meet them had a war at 3:00 as Geoff Palmer missed a critical game ending penalty, but played an amazing game. Geoff and the Antelope did jump the patronless Fish Creek, but had to do it in O.T. as no one wanted to go home. Even as cold as it was they were trying to blaze down the fields and they are not smooth to say the least. So the way it is now is . . .
Duende - 0 & 3. They are gone.
Grants Farm - 1 & 3. They are history.
Stone Canyon - 1 & 3. They can all go to Hollywood.
Antelope 2 & 0 + 7 . They have to play each other
Golden Falcons 2 & 0 + 4
Fish Creek 2 & 1 + 6 They have to wait.
In the 8-goal it was the House standing as the Cowboys only shot at it, but did not burn it. Casa Blanca kept a smile on Dudley's face for another day as they beat the Cowboys of Rancho Valencia by a skin and ruined the day of the Silver Fox (Harry Collins) for the first time in a long while.
Mr. Amin finally did lose one as it was his first in 7 games, but the Fast-etta Express with young gun Clemente Zavaleta and hard charging Sean Keyman and the photoman beat him finally at the 3 pm showdown. The Twin City Singing Cowboys from Melody Ranch climbed the Redwood and sang the winning tunes despite a great effort from Lady Beal who has a little Grandpa in her when it comes to boogying down the field.
Saturday will be time to roll with JR. Polo at 9 a.m. Be there.
See Ya.
Feb. 26th, 04: The Rain Came And Guess What? - We played polo. Yes it rained on Sunday, blew yesderday and yes we played polo. It rained on Wednesday, the sun shined on Thursday, the wind blew and we will play polo on Friday. It will be a war zone as these are the people left for the real prize . . . RICK ROENISH BRONZES.
Farview tries to stop Fish Creek 2
The Cowboys of Rancho Valencia will try to burn the house Casa Blanca
In the consolation round it will be Chase Creek trying to flood the Falcons
and in the big leagues its like this:
Duende vs Stone Canyon pride is the name of this game .
Golden Falcons try to fly over the farm Grants that is. Andy B. has a shotgun named Fassetta waiting. They both need to win to see Sunday.
Antelope jump high and they will have to. The Fish Creek is up and rising with Macho Man (Julio Zavaleta) at the gate for a Sunday matinee.
It all start at 11 a.m. so be there
Feb. 25th, 04: Creeks Run Through Canyons - As a rule creeks run through the canyons but this one . . .Fish Creek ran over the Canyon, that is Stone Canyon, like a flash flood. It all happened in a matter of minutes. The game was 1 goal with 140 seconds left in the 5th and then it was 3 goals in that time left and it was a long 6th. Macho Man and young Bignoli showed the handicap committee worries too much about the West Coast. They should look in their back yard or is it the horses and weather are so much better here? They just play better? Must be! They did the job quickly and efficiently as they walked away with a 2 & 0 and a very good chance to be on #1 at 2 p.m. Sunday. Bad Brad goes to 0 & 2 and the Academy Awards hoping to cheer up. In the other make up from Sunday it was a FAST-ETTA show as Mr. Untouchable was just that. He scored 10 to make the Duende crew wish the wind and rain had came to town a little quicker/ They were blasted out of town by hard riding Andy Busch and Grants Farm. It was show time on the Farm and down time for Duende as they get ready for the next one. The ones who did not play now know what they will have to do. It is simple; Rule 18 is a necessity to see field 1 on Sunday.
See you Friday. Its semi - time and prisoners are not wanted!
Grants Farm and Stone Canyon and all of their players would like to thank Alex Jacoy , Susan Stovall, George and his crew for taking the time to add the East boards for the finals. Its so good for the game.
Thanks & thanks again from Andy Busch Brad Schlei and Gordo (Steve Crowder).
Feb. 23 , 04: No. I Did Not Forget The 2-Goal - There are so many teams it just takes another page to catch up and this is even with them cutting the 2 -goal back to 1 pro only. It was getting too fast and the young pros were trying too hard to impress the bevy of beauties in this league. There were 10 teams for the past weekend and there were winners. One game was played in each bracket and 1 round robin in each bracket. Sunday was no mas polo due to mas agua. It was still wild and wooly. In one game a player broke his mallets over his knee and threw them at someone else. Sounds like Pablo's taco shop has a best friend. Anyway in the game of bracket 1 it was as follows:
FRENCH CONNECTION BEATING LEATHER CPR
Fench Connection
Cyril
Gracia Brown
K.Bachelor
Caroline Anier
Leather CPR
Jessica Burch

They were wild . . . mallet throwing, screaming, threatening and they are unaware this is not mounted warfare. It is just a game that attracts fun and physical people. Quite often the polo players are aggressive and crazy speed balls who like to live on the edge. Its such a great stress reliever it should be the # 1 medical prescription for stress worldwide.
Feb. 22, 04: What Not To Do On A Rainy Day - Play polo! You cant play when it rains here in the California desert. It is just not something we ever do. Why? Well who knows. It never rains, so could we? Well if horses did not fall or slip and if player patrons wanted to, maybe we could. However, wet horses, wet equipment, wet grooms and wet everything would be the result. Maybe if it starts raining every weekend or if the purse was a million dollars we would all try to hit that little white ball like they did in the Nissan open on Sunday, but it is not a big purse. Richs bronzes seem like a million dollars, but its only the cost of them. So some big games were called off and some ready horses will have to wait and try to get ready again. Some players will heal and some will be better. The grass will grow and we will see how much it rains this week. We will enjoy the politics of B.S. by our country leaders as they figure out how to waste more money in some unknown countrys problems. So they cut the education and police budgets. I guess thats the new way to slow the prison growth. A new theory less education and fewer police officers will make fewer criminals. Sounds like a great theory being practiced in CA.
See ya when the sun shines and the wind blows.
Feb. 21, 04: The C Letter Of The Day - C was good for the name today if you wanted to win as it was:
Chase Creek stopping Melody Ranch. WELCOME BACK SEAN Keys!
Casa Blanca over Mansour. They need the Nurse.
Carnation Farms beating Fish Creek 2. JOSEY returns.
Cassidy West yes Cassidy west beat Polo America
After all it was Summerland and the Little B helping the Gov. beat up on winless Gehache. Chevas Hosea and the red hot KSL squad put another win on the board as this team is rocking into the Bronze Round. Cassidy West came out and shocked Polo America as Tiny Tom finally gets to have a victory toast. I think that leaves Gehache as the only other team still without a Win for the month. The weather is not gorgeous, but there were plenty of good things about the day. It did not rain and Elizabeth is going to wear a mini skirt tonight at the 70's party. There will be so many games tomorrow if it does not rain. You cannot even visit them all. There are about 20 to be exact and maybe a practice or two. So be there. Everyone else will be if it does not rain. Oh and by the way, it was Ashton Wolf signing in on the Crash and Burn Party by Leather CPR.
See ya at the party.
Feb. 21st, 04: Yesterday Is History - It was not a very nice day in the desert. A little breezy, a little chilly and a little bit wet. The 3 finalist from last week found out your only as good as you are today, because yesterday is gone. So were the unbeaten records of Grants Farm who has been slapping them around during most of the last 40 days. It was Macho Man (Julio Zavaleta) doing the slapping as he slapped the ball up front and they slapped in the goal for him as Fish Creek got out of the dumper and into the hopper. They took Grants Farm to the barnyard and beat them by 2. It was the other finalist Stone Canyon without Movie man Bad Brad Schlei getting tapped on by the Toughest little man around Mr. Amin. You better say Mister as he is a gun-slinging, hard riding little macho man. He and Barrabucci barbequed the Gov. (Pat Nesbitt) and Stone Canyon by a couple. It was the return of the Palomino (Jason Crowder) and Antelope as they were hopping. Mr. Palmer and the Riceman (Shane Rice) took it to the goal and they did just about kill Duende. They rode through the goal so much they almost forgot which way was the center. It was a fun.
Time to pick the Trail Boss for the week as the T Cowboys TJ &TOM Barrack and The Torres rode hard on the Cowboys from down South at Rancho Valencia.
In the 4-goal it was the Dandy Dan Horn and Mazeland (Andy Maze) missing Nurse Walker who is out with the flu. It was a sick day for PD as they got parked by the lighting on Parklane. Farview was looking down on Playa Grande after 4. The Long Tall New Yorker (Michael Rothbard) has more than a pretty Lady. He has some scoring inside that frame as his team DQ continued their winning ways with a big win over Cellex C.
It was Danny Walker signing up for the Leather CPR crash and burn roster on Friday. The USA today came out with its top 10, but they forgot two of the toughest men I know . . . MR. Ken Walker and our own Ambassador Glen Holden and lets go boys. These boys are tough to the bone.
See ya.
Feb. 18th 04: The Big One Is Coming - They say we will have a big one, that is an earthquake, between now and Sept. of this this year . It is supposed to occur between the Mexican border and Barstow, CA. Well we will see, but the Earth has not been moving. In the few cases of human contact as The Fase-TTa Express (Mariano) met Mother Earth again. He always seems to do it on field 1. I also heard Mr. Ramos did a 10-goal spill in the 2-goal on Sunday and rumor is Bryan Middleton is really trying to win this Leather CPR Crash & Burn Award. He had another Earth meeting experience. There are some big ones coming this weekend, however, they should not cause the Earth to move. The 8-goal brings on the running T's of Piocho Ranch. The Ranch feud continues as the Silver Fox (Harry Collins) tries to rally his cowboys to hit the trail with Rancho Valencia and find out who is range boss this month. Then its Mansour . . . will Ben be Here? Nobody knows, but Nurse Walker will be available and they will face the Burned house Casa Blanca who continues to rise as they are undefeated in Feb. thus far. They are all in the bronze round.
In the Silver round its the Falcons trying to land on the trees of Redwood and the Governor, who may not show at the Ambassadors party as he may sub for Bad Brad in the high goal. This will leave Bones (Ron Bonaguidi) to fill his shoes with Little B - Bilo as Summerland takes on Gehache. To round it all off it will be The Singing Cowboys of Melody Ranch hooking up with Chase Creek with Super Rookie Sean the Keyman and Wildman Wayda.
In the 14-goal it will be Duende and Grants Farm hooking horns. The Falcons will try to catch the Antelope as the Big Mac hopes to return and give the Governor a Fish Creek welcome back to the big leagues.
Down south in Florida it was the Millarville crew saving themselves for the Open as they dropped a close one to Hartmoor in O.T. at Royal Palm Polo. Turn on the lights theres a party coming this Saturday night.
See ya
Feb. 16th, 04: The Other 2-Goal - The other bracket of the 2-goal was won by the Delta's flying Lady Vanessa Joe with K&F DEV. Bones (Ron Bonaguidi) sent the big ball up to them, so the winners circle was again filled with some dynamite women of polo. Its no wonder Brian Ward has returned to the polo trails. He is playing with another lady who is running things up at Playa Grande, Heather Schuberth. Things are looking very good for the future of polo.
Feb. 16, 04: A Came First & Then There Is B - A&B products did well yesterday. They were first in Florida at Daytona with Earnhart in the Daytona 500 and in Indio, Ca with Grants Farm as A&B is Anheuser Busch Products or Andy Busch. Even John Daly had an A&B product to celebrate. At Indio it was Grants Farm doing a team effort on Bad Brad Schleis Stone Canyon. The best 3-goal combo around mighty Mike and Josey Stuart set the table and Mr. Fast - Etta Express, often untouchable, and Andy Busch brought the plates to the table. It was a good game. Stone Canyon rallyed to within 1 in the 5th and then Josey put a stop on that rally as he poured one in and Mikee held the door open. It was basically history from then point forward. There was action wherever you looked. The T-Team with Tom Barrack, TJ & the Torres getting by Chase Creek with Piocho Ranch. Casa Blanca got a w and KSL with Hosea on the move set back Carnation Farm as Josey says it was all my fault. Rule 18 says the most goals scored wins. The Singing Cowboys put too many Melodies together as they stopped the Ambassador (Glen Holden) and squad with Melody Ranch beating up on Gehache. In another big one it was the Doctor Gaston Von Wernich operating, without Nurse Walker, still performing the cuts as he cut up the trees of Redwood with his scapel. Palm Desert with Nurse Walker stayed on victory row helping Dandy Dan thru the Mazeland and into the final four beating Polo America. Tiny Tom keeps it alright as he has no wins to date.
In the 2-goal, the league where you see some of the prettiest gals ever in a saddle, it was one of them, Lady Jessica Burch leading Liquid Polo over Larsen Cart. It was Hospital Infantil with Clint McClellan keeping an eye on two Lovely nurses Tracee and Laura taking on another great looking saddle Vanessa Joe. I do not have results of that one yet, but will it was a turn-key day. A cool morning, great afternoon and magic in the air as Monday is a holiday.
See ya.
Feb. 15th, '04: Valentines Day - Valentines day is a day like 364 others, but its a day we all talk about. We all like to succeed on Valentines for one reason or another. Some did and the results are as follows:
Redwood beat the Ambassador, who is the toughest man on Earth. He takes it like a man no matter what, but he will try until the ref. says no mas. The Ambassador lost to Mr. Clark who has that same attitude, lets play polo now or forever. Then it was Chevas Hosea and his band of put togethers. KSL did a tap dance on Cellux C as they added to the + column. Tiny Tom and the Cassidy West crew did not change their ways and lost to Fairview. Mansour with the Doctor Von Wernich and Nurse Walker continued to roll forward as they beat the Silver Fox (Harry Collins). I think the only team that has beat him more than once all year. Gentle Ben Soleimani was away as usual, but he won. DQ continued to beat up on neighbors as they rolled again to the win, 2 & 1. Mr. Rothbard is enjoying his debut in competitive polo as they drilled Fish Creek 2. The rocking man Mr. Amin continued to rally as he won for the 3rd time in 3 days. He blew by the Governor Pat Nesbitt and led the Falcons past Summerland.
Parklane got by Playa Grande. In a nice upset for Victor Soto he led the charge as Big Cam Diggins from Canada had a nice California day as they rode by undefeated Carnation Farms. In the 2-goal it was the team who seems to head to the finals as if its their turn every week, Larsen Carts winning and sending their unbeaten record at Liquid Polo. They will tangle on Sunday and it will not be a love day. In the other Bracket it was Hospital Infantil headed to the finals again with K&F Dev. so it will be fun. Be there.
We will be!
Feb. 14th, 04: Valentines Day Is For Love - Yesterday was Friday the 13th. Some people thought it was awesome as several teams with no wins in their column came blazing through and they thought yesterday was Valentines Day. The Golden Falcons turned two big wins yesterday getting by Chase Creek in the 8-goal and drilling Antelope in the 14 goal. On the 13th day Mr. Amin was bound to start. He left here last year as one of the best patrons I have seen play polo and yesterday he proved he is back. Another team that has been down, Duende, came back for a big win to stop Grants Farm and then Fish Creek. It did not get them to the finals, but it shows they are still in town as they stopped unbeaten Stone Canyon in a good match. The burning house Casa Blanca got revenge on the Cowboys of Piocho Ranch in OT. They get another win. The Silver Fox (Harry Collins) added to his win days against the Melodies. Maybe this love day will bring healing to a few cripples around town. Right now as the Fas-teta Express is out with a Ravin bridle and the Palomino (Jason Crowder) is holding spare mallets. The Big Mac is really needed to fill up the creek waters of Fish Creek. Bring your sweet tooth out today as there is sugar in the air. Beverly is giving free candy to all today.
see ya
Friday the 13th: There is magic in the air as we head into this love weekend and it all starts on Friday the 13th. It is the speed balls of Piocho Ranch who think running is running and they do fly. With superstar Miguelito Torres, a rocket and rookie, Runner TJ and theyre backed by two proud Papas. They face some other young guns The Wolfman (Ashton Wolf) and the Riceman (Shane Rice) and they play for the house (CasaBlanca) the cowboys burnt down last time. It will be a running - gunning type of showdown and its at 10 a.m. at the Cantina. At 10.30 on field 2 you can see Mazeland and Dandy Dan Horn trying to get revenge on Trishs mixture of love and war with Moon and Tulsa Time. At noon its big time as Bad Brad Schlei and Stone Canyon take on the Rising of the waters from Fish Creek. Can the fish make it up the Canyon to the finals? Be there! We will. Have a Happy Valentines Day and remember its Friday the 13th, you better be good to your honey.
See ya
Feb. 11, 04: How Are You Standing? - Well where ever you are you will have 2 games to fix it and it may not be enough. There are a few teams who are 2 and 0 and they are in the drivers seat for the bronze round, but a few are out for it all . . . win 2 this weekend. In the 14-goal it looks like this and you do not have but 1 more chance:
Bracket 1 playing Bracket 2
Antelope 1 - 1
W - Duende
L to Fish Creed
|
Duende 0 - 2
L to Stone Canyon
L to Antleope |

Nobody's a shoe in and only Dunde and Golden Falcons are out, but they can make so much trouble for SS to add it up.
In the 8-goal its similar for Bracket 1 and a rising in the other as Casa Blanca is done burning. Maybe and the Silver Fox Harry Collins will keep on riding the Cowboys to the Win column.

The newest thing this month is CPR Leather and Darren Zuzow putting on a Saddle Stickem Crash & Burn Award. Its not fun to be on the nominees list, but its a chance to win something this week. The ones Ive seen are The Palomino (Jason Crowder) eating dirt and Danny Walker buying turf. I heard the Rice Man Shane had some plowing and I will find out who needs to buy an A&B product . . . cold Bud will do.
It looks like the west is trying hard to make the U.S. FIP team. We had 3 today. Great spirited people you probably drive 50 in the fast lane too.
One person doing a lot for Polo in the Cochella Valley is DIANE HENSLEY. She has done a very good job on polo in the Desert Sun. Say thanks when you see her. She is another of those pretty ladies in the 2-goal check it out.
See ya.
Feb. 10, 04: Not Seeing It All 2 Goal - Sometimes you think your paying attention and its just not that way. You walk out in front of traffic or drive by a friend and never see him. Thats what has been happening here at polo. I have not even seen a 2-goal game and did not even know they were having tournaments even though its for sure I have driven right through their games. Anyway, it was suggested I check on them which is very true as they are the future people I hope to sell pros, coach, sell horses or in general survive with. The 2-Goal is the building block of this game and it is very busy building. They have had 8 teams every weekend I hear. The last one I have the results for. They are quite a group.
Bracket A it was :
World Gym Larsen Cart Kent Field Hacienda de Trumpas
M.Uretz L.Payan A.Goti B.Ramos
W. " D.Lasman E.Hammon S.torres
T.Okie T.Larsen B.Hagstrom M.ward
B.Puetz R.Keyfauver P.Beard
Bracket B
Hospital Infantil Centaur North Star Calgary
S.Areola E.Darquea M.Register S.Dorn
C.Mcclean C.Guiterre V.Balykova V.Joe
L.Handley J.Batis T.Westin D.Dalton
J,Hunter D.Shea R.Moran L.White
and the winners were :
LARSEN CART
An unusual team, a scratch golfer who took up golf carts then quit driving golf carts and took up horses, beat the Hacienda de Trumpas with their biggest stick ,but Littlest player 10 year old magic man Santi Torres. Santi had the Lady Paige with him this tournament. We have seen the return of Big Bob Hagstrom, who is not so big now, he even looks slim. In Bracket B it was North Star with a sexy Russian and her honey Tim putting more on the board than the Hospital crew. They were led by Big Clint Mc Clellan from San Diego. Clint is on his way to the big leagues and he is running for Big Jim Hunter shots and they all follow Laura leader Handley.
Some other stars in this league are Chicago stud Mike Ward and Mr. Kentfield Eric Hammons. The lovely lady Jasmine Batis and super fly lady Deltas own Vanessa Joe and she out runs the long shots of Aspens Lani White. We will look a little harder this week. This is where all the pretty ladies are. Thats why Jim and Clint are there!
Feb. 9th, 04: Some Say It Was A Great Day - It was a picture perfect day both here in Indio and in Monterey California. If you were playing golf or polo it was all in your game and the weather had nothing to do with it.There were some good ones and they started early as Birthday Boy Andy Busch got his goodies early and shut down the flying Golden Falcons. The Grants Farm Cuatro goes to 2 & 0. They all had a very good game and it was the Fish finally getting back in the water as they shut the Antelope down by 1 with some very controversial calls. and aparently a mistake on the score and someone has to go to the blue book to Find out who screwed it up as the teams were given the wrong score by the Officials at the start of the 6th then after it was tied and teams preparing for O.T. they were told no it was a mistake the camera person brought it to the officials attention. So who knows as of now its Fish Creek and Antelope both at
1 & 1. In the show time game it was a drag em and shoot em up as the Stone Canyon bad boys led by Brad Schlei, who was not the refs. favorite guy yesterday, still got by Duende, who has not reached full speed yet. Mr. Hakan seemed to be getting there quickly, the Duende squad goes to 0 & 2 and Stone Canyon goes up to 2 & 0. Eveyone has 1 more game in the bracket to set the finals. The only ones out are Duende and Golden Falcons, but they still play a big part in who goes to the bronze round on Sunday.
In the 8-goal it was Mansour with the Doctor Gaston and Nurse Walker finally getting shut out of the operating room. It could not happen to a less likely team. They fell to Melody Ranch who must of had the right music and it was hospital tunes apparently. They came from 4 down to catch the Doc . The Silver Fox Harry Collins continues to have a hot winter as he rode past the Ambassador (Glen Holden) and went on to be 2 & 0. It was a bad day for officials as the Ambassador lost so did the Governor (Pat Nesbitt) fell to the Leather Doctor (Darren Zuzow) and Chase Creek. MR. FAST-ettA (Mariano Fassetta) CAME BLOWING through FOR 3 IN THE 6th. It was also Piocho Ranch and the Cowboys getting back on the winning trail as they got by the Golden Falcon 2 squad.
In the 4-goal it was Carnation Farms stopping Cellex and Dandy Dan and Miss Walker going to Maze land. They won their second of the weekend and went by Playa Grande. Parklane booted Tiny Tom and his Cassidy West teammates a little futher West for the day. Domingo Questel got hot at the right time and caught KSL looking at Saturdays report. On the medic report it grew a little more as the Palomino Jason Crowder got a shoulder banged up and the Big Mac Fred Mannix is recovering from an earthly greeting. Katie Moon is still smiling just not clapping and The Silent One CHRIS MALONEY is walking without a cane, so he may be looking for the 4 legged machines soon. In Florida, another Chris The Iceman Nevins sunk a 40 yarder in O.T. to win the Outback 14-goal on Sat.
Get your goodies and your woman and see you on Friday the 13th and just remember its honey time the next day.
see ya
Feb. 8th, 04 - What A Great Day - For many it was a big day and it was a happy birthday to Bud Dardi, Pat Nesbitt and Andy Busch all in one fun day. Well it was a very pretty day all sun no wind and just the perfect polo temp. It started that way early as Junior polo starts at 9 a.m. and they are doing so well. The Govenor turned uh-- ? today and played his first chukker of this year. Other than fouling a few times he played very strong and helped Summerland Wine win today. It was at the expense of TJ and Tom Barrack and the running Torres in a very fast game. The Silver Fox (Harry Collins) got back on track whipping Mr. Clark and his Redwood side as they played their first one of the year. It was Casa Blanca finding some wood to start building the house again as they shut down the Golden Falcons.
It was the Ambassador's squad (Gehache) meeting Nurse Walker and the Doctor Von Wernich. They did get operated on as the Doctor, without Big Ben Soleimani and now without Manny Questel due to the handicap committee who do not let North Americans play polo) They still did some major surgery. Gaston just gives Nurse Walker a bigger job and he does his sewing in the afternoon as smooth as can be. Just ask Robertito. This was Gehaches welcome to the 04 season.
In the 4-Goal it was Chevas Hosea in his first in 04. He had 4 on the floor as Chevas and KSL rocked runner ups last month Fish Creek 2 by more than 4. Palm Desert with Dandy Dan Horne gave Tiny Tom and his new camp a real rough good morning wakeup call. They blistered em in the 4-goal.
The Farms of Carnation with Josey Stuart working slid by the DQ and Mr Rothbard in a close one at the empire fields, which are looking rough this year.
There is so much action, be there! See ya at polo
Feb. 6th, 04: Rack em Up - You might say people were like pool balls today and who knows who was the 8 ball, but it was hard to put in the pocket. It took 7 in two to do it. At 10 a.m. it was the Grants Farm squad trying to three peat Fish Creek. It took a long while as Fish Creek brought in a 1 goal player from Florida, not Manny Questel, a player they just did their best to ruin his career, but a boy from 3600 miles away who is 1 goal foreign probably, but he has lived HERE 98 % of his life. That is just the U.S.P.A. Somehow its always different. If you are born in USA look out. As usual it was the Grants Farm boys stepping up and the Fast-etta Express (Mariano Fassetta) finishing the day with a pass to an American Andy Busch who stuck in the pocket to say game boy's in over time.
At 12 it was bad Brad Schlei returning to the 14-goal as usual late, but on fire as he led Stone Canyon to the winners circle. They shut down new team # 2 and go to the next round as happy campers.
At 2 p.m. it was the Antelope trying to return from their Super Bowl Sunday massacre. They did as it took most of 7 chukkers, but they did it and it was a good game for the new boys in town as Duende showed they are here in the Valley to play polo. One of the true soldiers of this game went down and it was the 4 legged one this time. A brilliant mare named Mysique had to be destroyed after a complicated break of her front leg. Its so sad to see these soldiers of our game go down and we will miss her so much. It was Antelope's Red head (Steve Dalton) doing the final pocket with 12 seconds to go in the 7th on a very tired horse. As the soldiers and the players did their job hard today.
Be there on Sunday. It will be good as bracket 2 won all their games today and 2 of 3 are + 1 and 1 is + 2. It is important to say the least and for the rest of the story you will have to wait because you know what? I do not know who won. It was Polo America vs. Fairview and Fish Creek @ vs. Rogue/Ore Pac and Melody Ranch taking on Redwood and Mr. Clark. So tune in next time. I will catch up, but come and see us and you will not have to read my B.S. I love it.
See ya.
