Nov. 28th, '04: Northern Winds A Blowin' - The crowds were big on Madison and Monroe today as people were in the desert in a big way. Some were here to see Tiger at the Skins, but some were here to see the real show, the finals of the Go Honey. They got to see a big one as Sean Keyes and the North wind picked up speed as the day went on and they came flying back and put a hurting on PoloBARN (aka the Farmers from Paneno) in the finals of the Go Honey. Corleone blew on by and took the silver home. Ernie Ezcurra and Scott Cunningham of PoloBARN had them in a hole for a while, but the second half was a red whirlwind as Corleone won the last 2 by 5 and are the Champions of the 2004 GO Honey. Get ready for the Chicks tournament and the World Gym as they start this week.
Nov. 27th, '04: Skinning Time - Yes, the desert is full of Skins followers, of the golf games that is, but it was also skins time at polo. Some teams were getting skinned, like no hide left. Sean Keyes and his Corleone polo team were taking the hide off the Mercari team and staying on top of the Embassy Suites foursome as they rolled to the trophy round in the Go Honey Finals. It was the Scott Cunningham & Ernie Ezcurra show as they blew by Pami Sue and gang to the finals. Ernie Ezcurra had a big day shooting for goal and getting them from where ever he found the plastic. PoloBARN/Paneno Farms head to a showdown with Sean and company making it their second finals in 3 weeks. They meet PoloBARN/Paneno Farms squad in the finals tomorrow. See you there right after the Skins game.
Nov. 22, ’04: Just Another Rainy Day It has been 6 years since someone has said that in the desert, but it was the 3rd rain in 6 weeks here. That is equivalent to the amount of rain we have had during the last 6 years here.
Well needless to say there was no polo on Sunday as it rained all day. It was a bit nippy here as well. Today you can see why. It is absolutely beautiful as every hill 1200 feet and above is white to the North, South and West of the Polo fields.
There was a lot of action down South as the Argentine Open started and it had a few surprises thus far. The Merlos got beat by Chapa. I. Mariana got beat by the defending champs on Sunday. The 31 goal American side lost by 3 to the high powered Chapa II. It was a very good showing for Isla Carroll and it was Sir Cambiaso wrecking the young guns of Ellerstina. A bit of a surprise as Mexico's Carlos Gracida, the newest 10-goaler here, helped win the game. He has been 10 a couple of other times, but went back to 10 in England and the US this coming season. Will see how Argentina will rate him later.
We are still looking for team entries at the winter season in Eldorado and they do not need 10-goal players. A few 10-goal payers would be great, but we will make you a deal. There are a lot of horses for sale and Professional Players as well. Have a very happy Turkey Day!!! The Go Honey will continue this week.
See ya.
Nov. 20, ’04: They said “ Go Honey” and they did. It was first round routs in most cases, but Pami Sue aka Kim Larson had to be different. As Larsen Carts won in double overtime as they slid by Fantasy Springs in a regular six chukker game except it was supposed to be 4 total. In other action it was Sir Sean Keyes taking out his keys and opening up a whole can of whoop a_ _ on G&L Ranch as they sent the boys back home alone. Scott Cunningham and the Go Honey Panenos rolled over Los Caballos as they made their first start in Desert Land. In another game it was World Gym needing to go back to working in the gym as Danny Boy (Dan Brown) and Mr. Manny Questel rolled the dice and said goodbye to the Gym Rats. General Lee Pettigrew came back with a bang as he and the speed squad did just that, sped on by the farmers from Freeman Farm. Sunday is action time again at 10 a.m. Its like this. Los Caballos take on General Lee & Mercari. Next door at 12 it will be Pami Sue & Larsen Cart going after Go honey Panenos and big sticks Scott Cunningham & Ernie Ezcurra. Also at 12 its Freeman Farm on a rebound against Fantasy Springs. Then at 1.30 p.m. its Sir Sean using his keys on the Embassy Suites and trying to open the door as Dandy Dan tries to keep him out. On the field next door its kids go wild as the Galindos & G&L take on the Gym Rats the Uretz clan. See those youn guns run.

Nov. 14th, ’04: The Empire is Back and Pami Sue Socks ‘em- Empire Polo and Big Al are back as they jumped on Zero Gravity and never let the magnet work and stayed in orbit. It was close, but not a bad showing by big Al in his first run for the silver in a long time. They won the Roadrunner Bracket (A) Finals.
In bracket (B) it was Embassy La Quinta taking on Pamisue (actually Kim Larsen and company) from Fountain View. Domingo Questel and company were not in it long as Kim and Miguelito Torres “The Missle” played a very solid game with Vicki Owens and Lolo Payan doing the grinding. The others were hard pressed to do much, but watched it happen the wrong way and Kim and Fountain View are the Roadrunner champs of 2004 Bracket B. Get ‘em ready. It’s time for the GOOO HOOOney which starts this weekend and goes for 2 weeks.
Looking for everything to set up a barn? We have a package of bridles ,saddles and even wheel barrows and buckets with all the fixings. We also have some cheap horses not in shape and some good ones ready to go. Let us know. We are here in Indio. Tel. 805-896-4406.

Nov. 13th, ’04: Zeroing In On The Finals Yes, it’s Zero Gravity on their way to the finals. They will try to stop the Empire in Bracket A as they rolled over Fairview on Sat. In bracket B it was Embassy Suites getting by Sean Keyes’ team Corleone in a hard fought first round game. Big Manny Questel kept them on the edge throughout the game, but did it in the end. They take on Ms. Larsen and the running Fountain View squad who made a wild-ride payoff. They were behind by 3 and then they tied it up at the final bell. A near miss by Dandy Randy Russell set Kimesue loose and headed to goal. They turned off the water at Fantasy Springs by a whisker.

Nov. 3, ’04: Guess What? - We do not know who is playing polo this winter & as expected we do not know who is the President of the USA. Very unusual, just being sarcastic!!
It’s amazing. The ones gaining again in this election are the lawyers who will now make a bankroll with legal bull. We need to start a Lawyers polo league so we can validate all games and calls and nobody loses anything but money.
However, we would like to validate a team for you in the Winter of ‘05 here in El Dorado or in South Florida. We have some premium players available now and some very good combos for 1/2 or whole teams. Give us a call and let us try to send you a winning combo.
The winter is looking very good we have had good rain this Fall helping the fields. We have new barns and a league to fit your needs. In Florida the hurricanes are gone the water level is up and the votes were counted so come on out. Give us a call we want you to play POLO. 805-896-4406. - See ya
Nov. 2nd ’04: Polo Playing Fantasy - We have it. Play 5 games with four 10-goal players (not 1 ten goal player) and be on top fields with big crowds. See what it is like to be in the big time. Each team will have 2-ten goal players, so there will be 4 on the field in all the games. You will also get private lessons from one of these superstars, enjoy a 40-goal game from box seats with a glass of bubbly in a magnificent setting of nothing but polo and the beauty around it. You also get a chance to get your money back. All at the cost of 1 fancy car which you might win and drive for a year, free. Or a big rig to haul your cash back. There are only six spots left call me at 805 896 4406.
Looking for magic on the field? This is it !!!!!
Nov. 1st, ’04: Polo Costs Money It’s that time of the year when I get to hear those stories about the pros are ruining polo and how they are so expensive. I wonder how we can explain polo is expensive and it costs everybody the same more or less for the same things. Such as gasoline, horse feed, shoeing and housing. For example one year ago today . . .
hay was $110.00 a ton and today $140.00
gas $1.80 a gallon and today $2.50
oats $ 7.70 a 50 and today 14.00
shoeing $60.00 a horse and today 75.00
2 bedroom apt. $1,200.00 a month and today $ 2,000.00
It costs the feed man more to get his feed the farmer more. It costs the gas station more for gas and the Patrons raised the price of their products, houses or land that they sell, but we are being asked to stay the same in the polo industry. It’s impossible to be competitive and be ready without feed for the horses, trucks to get them there and shoes to run on. So if you would like to tell us how to fix it, we might try. The answer better not be to vote. We already have to buy gas and now they will raise the price of ketchup so we get screwed either way.
I often hear “well you do not have to play polo.” This is true. We do not have to play polo, baseball players do not have to play ball, but everybody needs to do something. It’s like buying a car. You do not have to buy an expensive one, but if you want a good car you have to pay for it and it will cost more. So be nice. If it’s a good player, pay for him or you will not have a good player. That is just the way it is.
