January 26, '03: The Polo Report by Steve Crowder. Blowouts
If you were Oakland, Antelope or Atlant and you were in the finals or you were a fan you, you had a very bad day. Atlant with 4 flags flying should have added 1, a white one, as they took a whipping by Dandy Dan Horn's team, Palm Desert. Palm Desert played without Mr. Maze who was out with an injury. Shane Rice played in his place on Maze horses and he became amazing. Along with Big Joseph Stewart and young Carlitos Galindo they just rocked the board with scores. They took home the big polo bronze.
In the 14-goal it was adios to the Antelope, as like Oakland, they were destroyed in the big one. Sunday seemed to be a bad day for the older players. Jerry Rice caught few passes and Santi hit few balls. The young guns with Bad Brad did do a Stone Canyon tap dance on the Antelope for the second time in 3 days. On Friday Stone Canyon had to win to play in the finals and they did just. They beat Antelope by 5 to make sure they were in the finals and Sunday. The Young Guns were Bad Brad, Birthday Boy MR. Nevins and FAST-ETTA (Mariano Fassetta) were helped big by the old fellow on the team, Graham Bray. Graham was always finding the ball and did a great job on Abiatti. Nevins is becoming the new Minister of Defense as he put the whoa on the Antelope offense. There was no offense with Bad Brad making sure Joseph Stewart did not have 2 Big bronzes for the month. The Antelope are still looking for Fast-Etta as they still do not know where he is. As Tony said he was "Mr. Untouchable." Stone Canyon drilled the Antelope and sent the score board humming to win by 6 as all 4 players hit the board while Mr Palmer was the lead man for his team. Mr. Palmer scored 1/2 of his teams 6 goals. It was a beautiful day the fields are playing amazing. If A.J. could just buy some Texas Polo balls. It couldn't be better.
Well Jan. is history and Fablous Feb. starts on Friday so be there.
see ya
January 20, '03: It Is Time To Shine. The silver is ready and so are the bronzes. First place gets a bronze during the last weekend of the league finals. Only 1 more chance to be in the last and its few with that chance to be last. Friday in the 14-goal it was a don't go if you were from the Crowder Barn. Fish Creek with Jason playing his most un- Palomino game in 3 years got drubbed by, believe it or not, Antelope who have been the Tampa Bay of polo. Mercari in the battle of cellar dwellers lost again this time to Tiny Tom and that is the end of the line for that team. NO MAS.
In the 6-goal it was Mansour winning 2 against La Valencia and Cymric, but just for fun as Casa Blanca finished the weekend 2 and 0 to make them 6 & 0. They will carry the bronze home no matter what happens. Cymbric was 1 & 1 and settled for 3rd behind Mansour and Casa Blanca. It was some time behind for the rest as they battle for survival with Gypsum ,El Encanto, Los Mirasoles, La Valencia, Doc Mc Donald and Melody Ranch try to find less trouble while bottom feeding.
Sunday was a new day and Fish Creek came out on a revenge trip and Big Max was there to stay. They stopped previously undefeated Bad Brad's Stone Canyon to set up a big game on Friday between the Antelope and Stone Canyon. They need a win to get to the finals and should as I do not think the Antelope want to deal with Fish Creek again as Good Friday came early to them this year.
However, the 2 Amateurs on the Antelope are playing a w e s o m e as they have scored 80 % of the goals for Antelope. Mr. Palmer is getting better and Joseph Stewart is the best "0" in the nation as far as I can tell. So be there this Friday afternoon.
Down south the Wolfpack (Millarville) is playing like Fish Creek on Friday as it sounds like Grey Beard Rob Roenisch is the only one playing his handicap and he is older than me. The good news is Feb. is just around the corner and we are going to have a whole bunch of new faces in town. We have already seen some. The Midget is back and So Long Henry Z. as well as Marco the Mighty Brit. The Governor has been clattering around, so lookout for 2- 03 as Bud and Bulldogs are looking for Dundee in a brand new venue for Feb.
I know some of the best games have been in the 4-goal and I am a Chotto for not knowing, but that will be cured a.s.a.p. Get a team and be part of fantasyland at El Dorado. You're late, but not too late yet.
See ya.
January 16th, '03: The Polo Report by Steve Crowder. The Fast Lane. It's down to who is who on Friday in the 14-goal two 1 & 0 teams to meet and 1 will say goodbye as Fish Creek and Antelope hook up at noon. At 2 p.m it's the cellar dwellers Cassidy West trying to get up by taking on Mercari. They should both be good games as Stone Canyon and Bad Brad take a bye and then hit the big one on Sunday with Fish Creek. Tiny Tom gets to see field 1 as they take on Antelope.
In the 8-goal Casa Blanca is virtually a lock. Unless they have a finals. It's Los Mirasoles and their sexy leader (Alyssa Barlow) trying to stop the White House at 12:00. Mr. Anderson will try to put the Doc. Mac attack back in the oven.
In the 4-goal the lone soldier is the B boys Bolko & Bielo trying to stop the French Connection (Caroline Anier) and Tommy Bahamas at 12 noon.
Down South in Florida it was the Wolf Pack getting beat in their first game of 2003, but it was close and they have a few more games to get the +'s back in their column. We need to see you this weekend as it's time to sign up for Feb. leagues. There are just 75 more days left until it is all over.
See ya.

I will update the 4-goal as soon as I know all the results. Right now Casa Blanca is in drivers seat in the 8-goal and Stone Canyon in the 14-goal.
Today, Sunday, January 12th, it was Fish Creek with the Big Mac (Fred Mannix) gone fishing. They wipped out Cassidy West and Tiny Tim with his new possesion, the slowest horse in California now a prize getting drilled by Fish Creek. Mercari is looking forward to playing Cassidy West to go back to the + section. The top spot is looking up this weekend as Fish Creek and Antelope hook up. This Sunday Stone Canyon and Fish Creek see the field together, times are flying and so are the cheap balls A.J. buys for polo in the desert. They break so often we have to hire a man to pick up pieces to save the mowers.
See ya at the broken ball. --Steve Crowder

Jan. '10: The Polo Report by Steve Crowder. Are You or Are You Not "In" - This weekend tells the story. You either have a chance or you do not. It's not absolute, but if you sound too good to be true, you probably sound too good.
Friday starts it all for the weekend and this is the way it is:
Cymric is 1 & 1 and lost to Casa Blanca. (Dyan Shenlow, Mariano Fassetta, Mike Matz and Travis Dix)
Casa Blanca is 2 & 0. They are still there. Dudley's watching. (Ronai White, Carlos Galindo, Ashton Wolf and Tim Rudy)
Huges Dodge/Gypsum and Melody are not cold, but the loser will be. (Hughes Dodge/Gypsum - Curt Hughes, Topo Mendes, Bob Anderson and Art Cameron and Melody Ranch - Paul Von Gontard, Fernando Pliego, Ernie Ezurra, and Craig Ramsby)
In the high-goal it is brand new and its this way:
Mercari plays the Antelope and they are both 1 & 1. (Mercari - Lee Pettigrew, Joe Henderson, Diego Cossio, and austin Von Wernich. Antelope - Geoff Palmer, Santiago Trotz, Joseph Stuart and Marcelo Abbiati)
Cassidy West takes on Stone Canyon and they have a problem; winning and they will tomorrow I predict. (Cassidy West - Tom Cassidy, Negro Gularte, Steve Dalton, and Matthew Gonzalez.)
Bad Brad's back and he needs a win to get going and he plans on it. Fish Creek is resting. Julio needs a massage somewhere, but he will return on Sunday as the Macho Man and the Big Mac are Back.
On the social front we have had some awesome visitors this week. Mr. Andrew Reed and John Horsewell from the U.K. and the McGhee from St. Louis were in town and we need them to stay a little longer. They were all very nice and we hope they will re-locate next year to a 92201 address. Have a safe trip home.
See Ya. Steve.
Jan. '06: The Polo Report by Steve Crowder. The Ponies Are Not Talking or Walking - It's time to let the hammer drop and they did on the first weekend of 2003 which started on Friday, January 3rd. It was show time at Eldorado in the 14-goal it was Fish Creek with Fassetta substituting for Macho Mann Julio Zavaleta. Fassetta did a tap dance on the Antelope. They lost their lope and doubled their score. It was Mercari jumping on Tiny Tom's effort at high-goal and off to the finals they went on Sunday.
In the action packed 8-goal it was Casa Blanca, Las Mirasoles, and Gypsum going up. On Saturday it was Cymric, Melody Ranch & Mansour getting to the top.
On Sunday it was Cymric, Casa Blanca & La Valencia getting by. In the big game at 3 PM, the Silver cup, it was Fish Creek following a winning pattern again even without the Macho Man or Big Mac Fred Manni. Fassetta substituted for the Macho Man Julio Z. and Julie Roenisch for Big Mac Fred Mannix. The Palomino (Jason Crowder) and Super Woman Abby Riggs blew the doors off Mercari who seemed stunned to be there and waiting to make a play. Lee Pettigrew seemed to be flying alone and that was not enough to deal with the Palomino & Fassetta. With Miss Abby on their side it was a good day for the Big Mac to go shooting. They did not need his bullets. The Palomino was MVP, but he was not the only one. They were all alone, but yesterday is history and tomorrow never comes, so we will see you come Friday morning at 10 a.m. We have 3 weeks to go and nobody is gone yet.
See ya.
Jan. '04: The Polo Report by Steve Crowder. Opening Day 2003 - It was polo the old fashion way and it started hard and fast as the Antelope felt hunted and they were. Fish Creek without Macho Man (Julio Zavaleta) still slaughtered the Antelopes in a major way as they drubbed them. It was Geoff Palmer and Joe Stewart doing 99 % of the scoring for Antelope what little there was. They scored 5 and they only had 6 goals, so it was Big Mac Fred Mannix leading the parade to the finals.
In game 2 it was Lee Pettigrew making a 100 runs wide open. The boys from Mercari did a tap dance on Cassidy West. More or less without Cassidy as he was a high-goal spectator today/ It's time for Tiny Tom to get on the wagon and ride his horse.
In the 8-goal it was Casa Blanca just blowing by their neighbors up North Melody Ranch and the Golden Senorita of Los Mirasoles sliding by the Gypsum Cowboys.
It is fast, hard and dangerous, but it is polo heaven. See the speed and watch them run down Sunday lane as the fields are excellent and its wide open POLO.
So come on out and see it.
January 2, '02: BUCKLE UP BECAUSE IT'S SHOW TIME. THE RACE IS ON. LETS PLAY POLO!
The season starts this Friday from Boca Raton, Florida to Indio, California. There is no need to take prisoners just win and that's fine, but there will be only 1 winner where ever you are. Right now everyone has a chance to be the champion.
Here at Eldorado there are some powerful teams lining up in the 14-goal.
Fish Creek minus macho man Julio Zavaleta for a week or 2. That won't hurt anyone's feelings. Julio and the Big Mac Fred Mannix have not lost for 3 years.
Antelope is back and feeling tough as they bring Los Banditos' stud to the table, Mr. Abiatti.
Mercari has a little speed, a little power and a hungry patron, Mr. Pettigrew from Canada. He is not into losing and likes to play in the finals, not watch the finals.
Cassidy West has the title Underdog. They maybe a force as time and Tiny Tom come along.
The 8 goal is murderer's row. You will not find a nice time anytime soon as you have some bad-ass teams including:
LA Valencia - Yes Harry Collins is back and looking fit.
Casa Blanca - Ronai White has lots of trophies.
Cymric - Is a new team, but they will be there every week.
Mansour - Generous Ben Solamani is sound for now.
El Encanto - Is not only a four-star hotel.
Dr. Mcpolo - Bud is not the Doc, so we will see w h o is.
Melody Ranch - Super Mex. and P.V.G. (Paul Von Gontard) say what?
Los Mirasoles -Argentina and a Golden Viking Senorita named Alyssa.
Hughes Dodge - Curt Hughes sells big bad trucks.
This weekend does not show the Winter as some just got into town. Some are not coming and that's sad, but life must go on. Polo ponies have to run this weekend some may buck and some may not play too good, but it's just a new year. New horses and new teams. So have a Happy New Year and whatever you do . . .play POLO.
See Ya. -Steve Crowder
