Vic Graber Finals - June
16th - Ben Soleimani's
MANSOUR beat Ambassador Glen Holden's GEHACHE in the final of
the Vic Graber Memorial June 16. The two evenly matched teams
went goal for goal throughout, and overtime looked likely until
Mansour pulled ahead in the last few minutes to win 12-11.
The subsidiary final had MCPOLO playing the winners of the last
tournament, WINDSOR CAPITAL . Windsor won by 12 goals to 10.

Gringos Are Coming
By Steve Crowder
June 17, '02: On the playing field whether it be
soccer or polo the gringos are showing up. The U.S. beat Mexico
in the World Cup. To advance to the round of 8 it was 3 gringos
and Sapo Caset who blew thru to win in Santa Barbara.
In Santa Barbara it
was Windsor stuffing MC Polo and picking up another
win in the silver section.
It was the kid factor in the
win by Mansour, but the amazing thing was the best player
on the field was 75 year-old Glen Holden. He stuffed a
kid every time he went heads up with one. Whether it be 16 year-old
sensation, Sapo Caset, or 19 year-old Jason
Crowder, he just took them out and destroyed Mansour.
Holden even drew a potential game winning foul from Ben
Soleimani, but they missed the 30 yarder to send the Vic
Graber title to Mansour.
Mansour now joins two-time cup winner Windsor Capital
as the only team to get a cup in Santa Barbara. They are
probably the only two real 12-goal teams here and they are showing
it. The best thing for everybody else is that they drew each
other in 3 out of 4 of the cups, so it lets someone else in.
It was a great Father's Day
for weather as the June gloom went back to sea for the weekend.
Come and see the next big cup from San Diego to Santa Barbara.
The sun is shinning and the ponies are flying .
See ya this Sunday afternoon and watch those ponies fly down
Sunday lane. -- Steve Crowder
