The switch, though productive,
didn't send spirits soaring for Cassidy West, as mistakes mounted
the pressure to even a growing scoring gap. Anier stressed when
she realized the wrong horse was brought to her for a mid-chukker
change. Cassidy gave in to a short burst of ill-tempered swearing
after he committed a line foul and Boystack scored on the conversion.
Gallaher erred and turned her horse over the line and fouled
as Birds of Prey converted another penalty shot.
Questel said his positioning
plan worked to challenge the strengths of Cassidy West, including
the hard-hitting Anier, the U.S.'s highest-rated female polo
pro.
"We put Jason in the
front and myself in the back. That way we matched a weaker player
against a stronger player, so I could get in there and play my
game."
Cassidy West's patron had figured
on a better outcome, after defeating Questel's team in the Go
Honey earlier this month.
"We didn't do as well
as we thought we would, but they played really good. Anyway,
beating Domingo twice is like asking for snow in this desert.
We made a couple of mistakes, but so did they and in the end
we did clear out the middle," Cassidy said.
Mike Uretz, club member and
an executive with World Gym, established the two-week four-goal
tournament played at Eldorado each season.
Polo matches are free and open
to the public. Call 342-2223 for information.
