There was star studded team
line-up today for the 18th Annual Braille Institute Auxiliary
Brunch and Polo match. Eight of the best players in the world
donated their time and ponies for a 36 goal polo match in front
of nearly 300 Braille supporters. Today's teams were North America
versus Latin America for good spirited competition. The North
American team was represented by Owen Rinehart, Adam Snow, Mike
Azzaro, the only American 10 goal polo player in the world, and
Julio Arellano were pitted against a team representing Latin
America. Starting with Mariano Gonzalez, Matias Magrini, the
legendary Memo Gracida and Hector Galindo. The players are in
Santa Barbara participating the summer 20 Goal season at the
Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet club. They joined together today
to play for the benefit of the Braille Auxiliary supporters.
Players opened up with scoring
with Adam Snow and Mike Azzaro with 2 and 1 goal in the first
chukker with memo Gracida adding two for Latin America. Magrini
and Galindo combined for tow goals in the second and Adam Snow
added a third goal for him in the second chukker. The third chukker
was even at one a piece. The North American team took charge
and got scores from Rinehart, Azzaro and Arellano to finish the
game with everybody smiling for an 8 to 5 victory.
It was good fun and a great
display of polo for a wonderful cause. Come to see us over the
summer for great polo action every Sunday with games at 1:00
PM and 3:00 PM.
