August 17, '03: EVERGLADES, GRANTÕS FARM, AND SAN SABA VICTORIOUS TODAY - Santa Barbara, The Pacific Coast Open with Bombardier Aerospace as Presenting Sponsor resumed Sunday, August 17, with matches between Windsor Capital and Everglades, Duende and GrantÕs Farm, as well as Antelope and San Saba. Everglades defeated Windsor Capital in overtime 14-13. GrantÕs Farm was victorious over Duende 9-7; while, San Saba triumphed over Antelope 11-9. Everglades scored the first 3 goals of the match, forcing Windsor Capital to play from behind immediately. Team Captain Adam Snow took charge in the third chukker with 2 goals to tie the match at 6. Beginning the fourth chukker, Tiger Kneece dominated offensively with 4 goals. Yet, Mariano Gonzalez responded with 4 goals of his own, which led to Windsor Capital evening the score at 13. In overtime, Kneece scored the game-winning goal. In the second match, GrantÕs Farm needed a victory to have a chance at winning the tournament. A late first half 5-1 run allowed GrantÕs Farm to gain a 6-4 advantage, Matias Magrini was responsible for 3 of those goals. The second half began with a Duende charge. Hector Galindo and Kris Kampsen eliminated the deficit and tied the match at 7 by the fifth chukker; however, the fifth and sixth period proved to be the downfall of Duende, being held scoreless in each chukker. Magrini and Robert Orthwein succeeded in closing the match. The 3:00 match was between San Saba and Antelope. The first half was evenly played, neither team was able to gain a substantial advantage over the other. By halftime, Antelope had a 1-goal advantage over San Saba; however San Saba captured the lead in the fourth chukker. Expanding the margin to 4 goals in the final period behind Guillermo ÔSapoÕ Caset, Jr., San Saba maintained control of the match. A late game charge by Antelope was prevented by a Caset goal. Dawn Jones substituted for Tommy Lee Jones at number 4 for San Saba.
