J.C. PALMER MEMORIAL CUP

This trophy was donated by the Palmer family in 1993 to honor the memory of their son J.C.
The 2003 J.C. Palmer Tournament was full of fast paced polo action. There was never a dull moment as emotions ran high due to some very narrow victories. On Thursday, July 31st, the finals were played between Fish Creek and Cam Clark Ford, it was an exciting game from start to finish, but especially the finish. In the last 2.1 seconds of the 6th chukker, a foul was called on Fish Creek and Cam Clark Ford got the opportunity to tie the game 7-7 and force an overtime chukker. Not even 1 minute into the overtime chukker a foul was called on Cam Clark Ford and unfortunately Fish Creek missed an opportunity to win the game with an open goal penalty shot. Lucky for Cam Clark Ford they were still in it, and fortunately the next foul was in their favor, so Julio Zavaleta took advantage of the situation and scored a penalty 4 to win the 2003 J.C. Palmer Cup by a score of 8-7. This was a very sweet victory for Blake Clark, the patron of the team as it was his 21st birthday!
