Lightning strikes twice at the Royal Palm Polo Club on May 6 and 8, 2005 as two back-to-back 40-goal games are played. Eight 10 Goal Legend's will compete for $340,000 in cash and prizes at the Ford Trucks $100,000 Forty Goal Skins Polo Game and Ford Trucks FIP Global Cup.
On Friday May 6 the UBS Polo Team representing South America will face off against the Ford Trucks Polo Team representing North America. The UBS Polo Team consists of Mariano Aguerre and 2004 Argentine Open winners Pepe Heguy, Eduardo Heguy and Nachi Heguy. The Ford Trucks Polo Team is Mike Azzaro, Adam Snow, Memo Gracida and Carlos Gracida.
The Ford Trucks $100,000 Forty Goal Skins Polo Game is similar to the popular golf skins game. Each of the first five chukkers is worth $15,000 and the sixth chukker is worth $25,000. Each chukker is played as an individual game. If the two teams tie in any chukker the money rolls over into the next chukker until a team wins. If a team wins the money goes back to $15,000 unless it is the last chukker and then it is $25,000.
On Sunday May 8 the Ford Trucks Polo Team of Mike Azzaro, Adam Snow, Memo Gracida and Eduardo Heguy will face off against the Jaguar / Land Rover Polo Team of Pepe Heguy, Nachi Heguy, Mariano Aguerre and Carlos Gracida. The teams will be playing for four 2005 F-350 Ford Super Duty Trucks for first place and two 2005 Jaguar and two 2005 Land Rover one year leases for second place. The spectacular trophy presentation will have attendees talking about it for years to come. Post-game parties are planned for both May 6 & 8.
This is the first time that two 40 Goal games have been played for cash and prizes. Every 40-goal game in the past has been an exhibition.
To cap off the festivities the ever popular Ford Trucks Polo America Expo will be held on May 6, 7, & 8 at Royal Palm Polo Club. This international polo convention will feature everything imaginable for a polo player in the Polo Village. Over 90 vendors will be present. The highlight of the Expo this year is the Seminars. Each of the eight seminars will be given by one of our eight 10 Goal Legends.
