Last weekend at Santa Barbara Polo Club the top 2 teams from the Western North and Southern Region Intercollegiate Men & Women's Teams met to see who advances to the National Tournament. Under some trying conditions on Friday & Saturday the following games were played.
Women:
Stanford (7) vs. Oregon State (10)
Washington State (2) vs. UC Davis (10)
Men:
Washington State (15) vs. Santa Barbara CC (6)
Oregon State (4) vs, Westmont (12)
Sunday under warm Sunny skies the Championship games were played.
Women:
UC Davis (10) vs Oregon State (8)
Best Playing Pony, Quincy, owned by Russ Sheldon
Men:
Westmont (23) vs. Washington State (12)
Best Playing Pony - Aurora, owner Santa Barbara International Training Center. The winning teams will advance to the Intercollegiate National Tournament at Brushy Creek, Texas.

Many thanks to Santa Barbara International Training Center, Santa Barbara Polo Club, John Westley for working magic on the arena. Thanks to the Umpires Billy Sheldon and Bret Vinson, Megan Towle and Sherry Sheldon for use of their personal horses and UC Davis and Santa Barbara International Training Center for supplying horses. Lynn Thompson again did a wonderful job on all the paperwork. Also many thanks to all the parents, players, coaches and team supporters for making it happen.
We also had a great 4 hours going over the Arena rule changes, getting great input from Billy Sheldon explaining the rules & interpertations and then a review of one of the women's games where the fouls were reviewed in detail, why fouls were called, why some had a slow whislte, why some were not called and a discussion of what the Umpires see on the field is usually a better view of what is happening and explianing why the spectators need to understand the game and keep the comments about Umpiring within bounds.
