June 22nd, '05: SARATOGA POLO SEASON STARTS & CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CUP ON THE WAY - After a pair of all too familiar rainouts over Father Day’s weekend, Saratoga Polo finally began its 2005 season to a sizeable midweek crowd on Wednesday. The match was a seven-chukker exhibition for the forthcoming Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce Cup

While the event was designed as a warmup to a give a host local players a chance to test their ponies before the tournament, that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a hard fought match to the end, with back and forth scoring the whole of the match. It wasn’t until the final two chukkers the Yellow Team finally built a sizeable lead to take home the win over the Blue Team 13-9. Will Orthwein led Yellow offensively with 9 goals. Peter Lusardi led Blue with 4 markers.

The players will return with full teams for the Chamber of Commerce Cup starting this Friday at 5:30pm. Polo will be played at Saratoga Polo throughout the summer every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 5:30pm followed by dinner and live music on Fridays and Sundays.
