July 6th, '05: BLOOMFIELD/SUGAR MAPLE CLAIM FOUNDERS CUP IN ROUT @ Saratoga Polo Club, NY

Adversaries united Wednesday evening as a combined Bloomfield/Sugar Maple squad easily handled Saratoga in the Founders Cup at Saratoga Polo. The final score was 16-7.

Saratoga’s AJ Famiano opened up the scoring with his lone goal for the match, but Bloomfield/Sugar Maple responded with 5 unanswered tallies and never looked back.

While Bloomfield/Sugar Maple never lost the lead after the first chukker, Saratoga did their best to stay competitive throughout. They were led by Sebastian Bonorino, who had all 3 of his goals in the second and Jeaniene Gass, who spread her three across the fourth and fifth.

Bloomfield’s Cuko Escapite scored early and often, with at least one goal in every chukker but the third. He led all scorers with 8 markers. He was supported offensively by Will Orthwein with 4 tallies and Dave Peters with 2.

Jackie Czub and Lael Peters each added a goal apiece for the victors.

The next match at Saratoga Polo is Friday, July 8 as Gene’s Cleaning takes on Bloomfield in the finals of The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce Cup Tournament. The match starts at 5:30pm and is open to the public.
