July 17th, '05: Gene's Cleaning/Tackeria over Susgar Maple 9-4 @ Saratoga Polo Club, NY. The United States Polo Association President’s Cup Tournament continued at Saratoga Polo on Sunday as Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria rode to victory over Sugar Maple with a final score of 9-4.
Pelon Escapite powered Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria offensively, leading all scorers with 6 markers. Tony Coppola, Jeaniene Gass and Gene Gass each had a goal apiece.
While Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria’s offensive display was impressive, defense was the name of the game. The winners held Sugar Maple to 3 goals scored (Sugar Maple’s other goal was awarded prior to the match’s start on handicap). The goals scored came from Brad Limehouse with 2 and Oliver Butterworth with 1.
The KPMG Best Playing Pony Award went to Cash Up Front, Pelon Escapite’s mount in the second chukker.
