Aug 14th, '05: BUCKLEIGH FARM OVER BLOOMFIELD IN BARRANTES CUP ACTION
In a rematch of this year’s USPA President’s Cup final, the winner of that contest, Buckleigh Farm, claimed victory again over Bloomfield tonight at Saratoga Polo. The final score to tonight’s match, part of the Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup Tournament, was 12-9.
Buckleigh was led by the steady attack Ignacio Saenz, who scored at least once in every chukker but the first, ending the evening with 7 goals. Gaston Rodriguez had 3 tallies for the victors and Luis Galvan had 2.
Once again this season, Bloomfield’s leading scorer was Cuko Escapite. Escapite had 4 markers and was supported offensively by Will Orthwein and Cathy Brown, who each had two scores to their credit.
The KPMG Best Playing Pony went to Saenz’ mount in the fourth.
