July 31, 05: Barbados vs. USA International Polo Challenge was played at Oak Brook, with the match ending in a 7-7 tie. Instead of a sudden-death chukker, the players agreed to shake hands and call it a draw. Playing for Team USA were: Sandy Stuart, John Greene, David Wigdahl and Angelo Kleronomos. Playing for Barbados were Captain Kent Cole, Louis Venezia, Pablo Crespin and Harry Manning.

The Barbados Travel Authority hosted a cocktail reception in the tent, and a drawing was held for a 5-night stay at the Colony Club Hotel, compliments of Elegant Hotels of Barbados. In addition, Blue Star Jets offered a $1,000 credit toward a jet charter, so the winner - Dean Kleronomos and his wife, Kim - could fly to Barbados in style! Sandra Goldman of the Chukker Collection generously gave a Chukker Collection International Calendar & Directory, note cards and sterling silver key rings to the visiting team. Ken Indart of Blue Star Jets also gave players on both teams $1,000 credits toward jet charters.

On Friday evening, July 29, the Barbados team played the USA team of Dean Kleronomos, Dean Regas, Tim Greene and Jim Tolbert, in a match at David Wigdahl's Dahlwood Farm Polo Club, followed by a barbecue, music and party. The Barbados team came to Chicago at David's invitation.

On Sunday, August 14, the Cross Creek Farms team from Peoria, Illinois defeated CBS-TV 11-4 in the finals of the Wyndham Drake Gold Cup. The Drake Gold Cup is the oldest tournament played at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds, dating to 1962, the year the Drake Hotel opened its doors in Oak Brook, across the street from the polo grounds.

Playing for Cross Creek Farms were team patron Rita Kress, Ty Overcash, Diego Martinez and J.J. Celis. Comprising CBS-TV were Darren Watts, Romulo Crespo, Anthony Garcia and Joe Ahern.
