Aug 17, '05: BLOOMFIELD WINS AT SARATOGA POLO 7-6
In one of the most fiercely contested matches of this year’s Hector and Susan Barrantes Memorial Cup Tournament at Saratoga Polo, Bloomfield narrowly edged Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria on Wednesday with a final score of 7-6.
The match was characterized by a fierce back and forth with relatively low scoring, small leads and many ties, especially in the first chukker with no goals scored.
Not unlike the first chukker, the sixth and final chukker was a scoreless deadlock with fervent back and forth, but no scoring, leaving the final margin 7-6.
Julian Hipwood and Cuko Escapite powered the victors with 3 tallies apiece. Cathy Brown also notched a score for Bloomfield.
Juve Baez and Pelon Escapite led Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria in defeat with 3 markers apiece.
The KPMG Best Playing Pony was awarded to Pelon Escapite’s horse in the 2nd chukker.
In Barrantes action on Tuesday at Saratoga Polo, Sugar Maple edged Buckleigh Farm in sudden death overtime with a final score of 9-8.
