Sept. 02, '05: GENE’S CLEANING/TACKERIA OVER ESTRELLA AT SARATOGA POLO
An early lead couldn’t sustain Estrella as they succumbed to Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria 13-7 on Friday in a match in the Autumn Plates, the final tournament of the Saratoga Polo season.
While Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria started the match a goal up on handicap, Estrella took command out of the gate, scoring 4 unanswered goals (2 from Sebastian Bonorino and 2 from Ricky Bostwick) to end the first chukker at 4-1.
Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria brought the same level of domination Estrella exhibited in the first chukker to the second and third, earning 7 unanswered goals. Bonorino had a pair of goals at the end of the third chukker to stop the bleeding, but Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria still finished the half ahead by 2.
Other than a single tally from Bonorino in the sixth, Estrella was held scoreless for the whole second half while Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria built on their lead to finish the match out ahead by 6.
Gene’s Cleaning/Tackeria was led by Pelon Escapite with 5 markers and Tony Coppola with 3.
