3 p.m.  FINAL HARRY EAST

Beverly Hills Institute/Prime Source def. Long Beach 13 - 12

This memorial tournament is held in honor of Harry East, a former club manager in the 1930's. Organized in 1954 it pays tribute the 7-goaler East who was known as one of the finest teachers of the sport of polo during his day. He was also involved with the early development of the Santa Barbara Polo Club.

Beverly Hills/Prime Source (BH/PS) never let down and in overtime won the title over the Long Beach team – 13 to 12.  Tim Rudy playing for BH/PS was high scorer for the day with 9 goals to his credit. (That made him high scorer for the weekend with a total of 17 goals). Both teams tied in the first and second chukkers, sort of checking each other out.  Then, in the next 3 chukkers the Walker’s of Long Beach pulled ahead consistently with a two-point margin on the scoreboard. In the final chukker BH/PS player Tim Rudy was a powerhouse and knocked in 3 goals – all from the penalty lines. Mariano Gutierrez made 4 goals – including the winning goal in sudden death.  Long Beach stats are: Matthew Walker made 3 goals, and sustained a small injury in the 5th chukker. Thankfully - not enough to keep him out of play. Henry Walker knocked in 3 goals; and Dan Walker made 6 goals, 5 of those were penalty shots.

Referees: Chris Kerley, Andy Smith and Billy Mayberry.  Medic: Diana Palmer
Polo Manager 8-Goal: Shane Winkler from the Int’l Polo Club in Wellington, FLA.
He is also on for announcing duties through the end of the season October 17.

Three teams were tied with records of 1-2 by the end of Saturday’s play – Chadmar, Mansour & Nicoma.  The teams agreed to play a round-robin match today in order to determine the winner of the Consolation Trophy.

1 p.m.  CHUKKERS 1-2-3   Mansour and Chadmar were tied 5-5.

Enrique ‘Henry’ Zavaleta for Mansour knocked in 3 goals, 1 a penalty; Miguel Torres put 1 in; and Ben Soleimani made a penalty goal.  Chadmar’s Roberto Zedda and Sebastian Tkacik each made 2 goals; and Carlos Fairbanks scored 1 goal.

CHUKKERS 4-5-6 saw Nicoma defeat Chadmar 5 to 3.  Nicoma’s Matt Ladin made all 5 goals, 3 were penalty shots -- while it was Roberto Zedda who made Chadmar’s 3 goals, 2 of those were penalties.

CHUKKERS 7-8-9 had Mansour overtake Nicoma 5 to2 and win the Consolation Trophy.  Mansour’s Miguel Torres made 2 goals; Henry Zavaleta made 1 goal; Ben Soleimani made 1 goal; and 13-year-old Patrick Uretz held his own on the field, and made 1 goal, playing with a broken thumb, no less.  Nicoma’s Joel Ladin and Matthew Gonzales each made 1 goal.
