Long Beach, made up of the Walker family mostly, turned on the heat in the last two chukkers and took the victory. Both Henry & Dan Walker made 4 goals each, 2 of Dan’s were penalty shots; Matthew Schwartz (14 y.o. substituting for Christine Walker) made 1 goal.
Best Playing Pony went to "Shorty" owned by Matthew Gonzales.

1 p.m. Mansour defeated Beverly Hills Institute/Prime Source 12 to 7
Mansour’s Miguel Torres was high scorer for the day driving in 9 goals, only 1 a penalty shot; Enrique ‘Henry’ Zavaleta made 1 goal; and patron Ben Soleimani made 1 goal.
BHI/Prime Source player Tim Rudy made 3 goals; co-patron Toby Mayer made 2 goals, 1 a penalty; Mariano Guitierrez shot 1 goal in; as did co-patron David Flynn.

10:30 a.m. Chadmar defeated Summerland Winery 8 5
Chadmar’s Carlos Fairbanks knocked in 3 goals, all penalty shots; Roberto Zedda and Sebastian Tkacik each shot 2 goals in, one of Roberto’s was a penalty shot; and patron Chuck Lande scored a goal.
Summerland Winery’s J.W. Hall made 3 goals, 2 were from the penalty line; Billy Reed and Pepe (no last name available) each scored one shot.
Saturday, October 1
11 a.m. Chadmar defeated Summerland Winery 11 to 4.
Roberto Zedda of Chadmar knocked in 5 goals, 3 were penalty shots; Sebastian Tkacik made 4 goals, 1 a penalty; and Chuck Lande and Carlos Fairbanks each made a goal.
Patron Bilo Zarif shot in 2 goals, both penalty shots; Bill Reed and J.W. Hall each had 1 goal.
1 p.m. Nicoma won over Mansour 11 to 5.
Matt Ladin of Nicoma gained 7 goals for his family team, 5 of those were penalty shots; Matthew Gonzales and Joel Ladin each made 2 goals.
Mansour’s Miguel Torres made 3 goals, 2 were from the penalty line; and Henry Zavaleta made 2 goals.
3 p.m. Long Beach defeated Prime Source/Beverly Hills Institute in overtime 10 to 9. With a full squad of Walkers, it was Dan who made 8 goals and was also high scorer for the day; Matthew Walker made 2 goals.
Prime Source/BHI’s Mariano Gutierrez shot in 7 goals, only 1 a penalty; and Tim Rudy made 2 goals, both from the penalty line.

SUNDAY, OCT. 9, 16 WICKENDEN CUP - This memorial tournament is held in honor of Ernest Wickenden who became the very first local "star" polo player. A native of the area, Wickenden first took up the game in 1898 and soon rose to an 8-goal rating setting a lofty standard for all future members.
