highgoalJohn Paul Clarkin had a good warm up for the coming test against the touring England when he lead his Cambridge Stud team to victory in the final of the Keyte & Watson High Goal. The final was a fitting end to three days of top polo at Cambridge’s Vogel street  field. It is the last Tournament  to be played there as the Club will move to new fields across the Waikato River for next season. NZ President Paul Kay played well in front of JP with the young Kit Brooks making the most of the opportunities presented to him by JP and Paul. In the Vosper Low Goal final Morrinsville A played the Morrinsville  B team. The action was fast and furious as the two teams went at each other. John Marton and Harry Tucker both young Englishman out in NZ gaining valuable  experience  with Tony Devcich were just to strong for the B boys in edging them out in the tight plays.

On the Saturday the NPA team play against the visiting England team. England played well for their first match in NZ. They were mounted by the Central Districts players who played against the English on the Sunday with the NPA team mounting the English. The English arrived in NZ from all corners of the Earth.  The two Tomlinson brothers were a class act in the middle for England, their understanding of each other’s was great to watch. Luke who has just gone to 8 goals after his efforts in the Argentine Open was England’s player real standout player. These two matches were great preparation for them with the Test against NZ’s four 7 goalers coming up on Saturday February 10.
