The Tommy Wilson led Piquet Hill team defeated John Paul Clarkin’s World First sponsored team 9-7 in the Bank of New Zealand 14 goal final at the Te Akau sports complex on Sunday. The match was played in front of a large crowd of local and vocal supporters. Craig Wilson was the star player for Piquet Hill, Craig was later named Player of the Tournament and also won the Champion Pony prize with his grey mare Skite. The young Will Hunt at 14 years played well for the World First team, this was Will’s first 14 goal tournament.
In the Low goal final Bank of New Zealand Morningstar were to good for Waimai Elco Direct beating them 7-5.
The New Zealand polo team to play against England at Kihikihi on Saturday February 11 was announced after the final by New Zealand Polo President Paul Kay. The team is Simon Keyte, Tommy Wilson, John Paul Clarkin and Cody Forsyth.
