Seven scholastic teams qualified from their respective regions to compete for the title of Scholastic National Champions. Students traveled from California, Maryland, Indiana, Canada, and their home towns of Texas, to meet at Brushy Creek Ranch in Burleson, Texas to play.
The level of play was high and games were very competitive. Teams worked for one another throughout the tournament and were able to socialize at the banquet on Thursday afternoon, where we got to see how well some students (and coaches) could do the hokey-pokey. On Friday evening, the Midland Polo Team provided the finest Texas brisket for players, coaches, parents, and friends to enjoy during consolation chukkers at the arena.
Thank you to the PTF, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas Christian University, and the Midland Polo Club for providing horses for this event.
Umpires Matt Syme and Trevor Wells did a fantastic job officiating the games.
Tournament committee members Dr. Bruce Wells, Ed Armstrong, Lynn Thompson, Dr. Philip Abel, Cissie Jones and Kim Syme were joined by Brushy Creek Ranch owner, Jessie Upchurch for the awards presentations.
Gear bags were donated by La Martina for tournament winners. Eques Ltd. also donated a gear bag of goodies for the sportsmanship award recipient.
Congratulations to Toronto and all the teams for a job well done!
Thank you to the many people who helped make this tournament a success.
