RESULTS - WORLD CUP POLO
GRAND FINAL - SUNDAY 8TH APRIL
AUSTRALIA VS BRAZIL

AUSTRALIA MISSES OUT BY ONE GOAL

In a nail biting fight to the line Brazil were victors in the final of the World Cup Polo 2001 today at Werribee.

Brazil scored 10 goals with lead goal scorer ALUISA ROSA's 5 goals - along with his fellow Brazilians they played a superb game. They started off slowly and came in steady with a calm and cleverly constructed game.

Australia with a two goal handicap started well but were unable to contain the classy Brazilians.

Lead goal scorer for Australia was DAMIEN JOHNSTON with 4 goals, ANDREW WILLIAMS scored 3 bringing Australia's total to 9.

It was a thrilling finish to ten days of World Cup Polo with teams from the USA, ENGLAND, ARGENTINA, CANADA, INDIA and ITALY with host team AUSTRALIA and victors BRAZIL all here to compete for the first time ever in World Cup history.

The game was played at the beautiful setting of Chirnside Werribee to a capacity crowd.
