AUSTRALIA VS BRAZIL
AUSTRALIA MISSES OUT BY ONE GOAL
In a nail biting fight to the
line Brazil were victors in the final of the World Cup Polo 2001
today at Werribee.
Brazil scored 10 goals with
lead goal scorer ALUISA ROSA's 5 goals - along with his fellow
Brazilians they played a superb game. They started off slowly
and came in steady with a calm and cleverly constructed game.
Australia with a two goal handicap
started well but were unable to contain the classy Brazilians.
Lead goal scorer for Australia
was DAMIEN JOHNSTON with 4 goals, ANDREW WILLIAMS scored 3 bringing
Australia's total to 9.
It was a thrilling finish to
ten days of World Cup Polo with teams from the USA, ENGLAND,
ARGENTINA, CANADA, INDIA and ITALY with host team AUSTRALIA and
victors BRAZIL all here to compete for the first time ever in
World Cup history.
The game was played at the beautiful setting of Chirnside Werribee
to a capacity crowd.
