Texas Polo Cup

Final Game:
Willowbend: 10
Crosswood: 4

Willowbend and Crosswood emerged from a six team field as finalist. Willowbend had a perfect 3-0 record while Crosswood lost their first match and came back to finish 2-1 for a shot at the finals. Robin Murphy scored first for Crosswood to even things since Willowbend started with one on handicap. Robert Payne answered with a penalty three to give Willowbend the lead again but Scott Lancaster tied things with a penalty three conversion to leave the match tied after one chukker. To start the second chukker Brett Mirikitani scored to give Crosswood their first lead but Willowbend answered early and often with Sam Leake scoring next to tie things and Robert Payne two more to give Willowbend a 5-3 lead after two chukkers. Chucker three opened with Payne scoring first, Mirikitani answered for Crosswood then Willowbend’s Rob Payne III scored late to make the score 7-4 Willowbend after three chukkers. Any hopes for Crosswood dimmed with Rob Payne III scoring two goals and Robert Payne one to complete the convincing victory. Robert Payne and his son combined for eight goals to win the Texas Polo Cup.
