Pony Express Rallies Past Henley House; Mokarow Farms Wins Big
In Ylvisaker Cup Action Sunday at International Polo Club Palm Beach
WELLINGTON, FL – Pony Express scored three unanswered goals, including a tap-in by 8-goaler Pablo MacDonough with 3:48 remaining, to rally past Henley House 9-8 in the 22-goal Ylvisaker Cup polo tournament Sunday at International Polo Club Palm Beach. The victory gave Pony Express (2-0) sole possession of first place in Division IV.

In other action, 10-goaler Carlos Gracida scored 10 goals as Mokarow Farms easily defeated ERG 15-7.

Pony Express, which trailed 7-3 at the end of the fourth chukker, cut the margin to 7-6 on MacDonough’s goal with 3:00 left in the fifth. Francisco Lanusse gave Henley House an 8-6 lead with 1:53 remaining before Pony Express started its final comeback.

Five-goaler Magoo Laprida followed up a shot by patron Anja Eckbo Daniels that hit the post to cut the margin to 8-7 with 1:03 left in the fifth chukker. Eight-goaler Alex Agote converted a 30-yard penalty shot with 4:49 left in the sixth chukker to tie the score at 8-8. It was the only tie of the game.

MacDonough finished with a team-high four goals while Agote added three and Laprida had two. Daniels did not score.

Francisco Lanusse led Henley House (0-2) with three goals while Adam Snow and Carlucho Arellano scored two goals apiece and patron Wayne Grover had one goal.

Mokarow Farms (1-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and extended it to 8-3 at halftime as Gracida scored six goals. Mokarow Farms scored four unanswered goals in the fourth chukker as ERG was forced to play with only three players when 7-goaler Roberto Gonzalez was sent to the sidelines for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Andres Weisz and Kris Kampsen scored two goals each for Mokarow Farms and patron Kevin Mokarow added one goal.

Nicolas Roldan led ERG (1-1) with four goals while Pablo Spinacci scored two goals and patron Scott Wood had one. Gonzalez did not score.

Teams were split into four divisions and will play three qualifying games with the top two teams in each of the divisions advancing to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The semifinals are set for Thursday, February 17 and the final is Sunday, February 20 at 3 p.m.
