ERG, Pony Express Advance to Quarterfinals
In Ylvisaker Cup Action at International Polo Club Palm Beach
WELLINGTON, FL – Ten-goaler Adam Snow scored five goals to lead Henley House to a 9-8 upset victory over Mokarow Farms in the 22-goal Ylvisaker Cup polo tournament Thursday at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

The victory eliminated Mokarow Farms and allowed both ERG and Pony Express to advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday.

In other action, Pablo Spinacci scored seven goals to lead ERG over Pony Express 15-11 and San Saba used a balanced attack to beat Goshen 11-9.

Division IV champion ERG (2-1) will play Skeeterville (2-1) Sunday at 3 p.m. preceded by a quarterfinal featuring Division III champion White Birch (2-1) against Pony Express (2-1) at noon.

Henley House controlled the first half, taking a 6-4 lead. After a scoreless fourth chukker, Mokarow Farms scored three consecutive goals, including a tap-in after a long run by Andres Weisz with 3:40 remaining in the fifth, to take its only lead of the game.

Henley House responded with two unanswered goals in a 53-second span to take back the lead. Carlucho Arellano knocked in a 10-yard forehand with 1:54 left and Snow, on a pass from patron Wayne Grover, gave Henley House an 8-7 lead with 1:01 remaining.

Snow added a 30-yard penalty shot with 3:35 left in the sixth chukker to give Henley House a 9-7 lead. Henley House missed two more scoring opportunities before Mokarow’s Carlos Gracida hit a 30-yard cut shot to slice the margin to 9-8 with 33 seconds left. Mokarow could not get off a shot from the throw-in at midfield.

Grover added two goals while Francisco Lanusse and Arellano scored one goal each. Gracida led Mokarow Farms with five goals and Weisz finished with three goals. Patron Kevin Mokarow and Kris Kampsen did not score.

ERG rolled out to a 10-2 halftime lead, including six goals by Spinacci, and coasted to victory against Pony Express. Nicolas Roldan scored five goals and Roberto Gonzalez added three for the winners. Alex Agote led Pony Express with five goals while Pablo MacDonough added three goals and Magoo Laprida had two goals. Patron Anja Eckbo Daniels did not score.

Patron Tommy Lee Jones and Toto Collardin scored three goals to lead San Saba (2-1) while Hector Galindo added two goals and Gaston Von Wernich had one goal. Pancho Bensadon led Goshen (0-3) with five goals while Stewart Armstrong scored two goals and patron Irvin Abell had one goal. Sugar Erskine did not score.
