This event is now in its fourth successful year which has grown in popularity and is now a prestigious charity fixture. This year also celebrates 100 years of Kuoni Travel who are the sponsors of the event.
This year’s event was in aid of Prince Harry’s new charity, the Princes’ Fund for Lesotho - Sentebale which is designed to help children and young people in Lesotho.
Over 2,000 spectators along with specially invited guests watched the main event of the afternoon which was the Kuoni World Class Polo Cup. Playing for Kuoni World Class Team was Prince Harry, Oliver Hipwood, Jay Jones and Howard Smith against Pangor Laut Resort Team of Mike Rutherford (of Genesis), Kenney Jones (former drummer with the Small Faces, The Faces and The Who and who also owns Hurtwood Park), Jamie La Hardie and Tim Brown.
The event was won by Prince Harry’s team (Kuoni World Class) by 8-4. The best pony was Drizzle ridden by Prince Harry in the second chukka and the man of the match was won by Jamie La Hardie.
It was an extremely enjoyable day and £42,300 was raised for the Princes’ Fund for Leotho Sentebale. Sentebale actually means ‘forget me not’ and I am sure that everyone will remember what a great day it was!
